Fibreglass Pultruded Grating

FRP (Fibre Reinforced Polymer), also commonly known as fibreglass, pultruded grating is designed for applications requiring longer spans, higher load capacity, and directional strength, where traditional moulded grating may not provide the required spanning capability. Well-suited to industrial walkways, elevated platforms, service corridors, trench covers, and access flooring in corrosive or coastal environments. Lightweight, low-maintenance, and simple to install, with excellent slip resistance and the corrosion protection FRP is known for.

What Sets us Apart

We are a New Zealand family-owned and operated company with a fully equipped workshop in the Bay of Plenty. We provide an in-house cutting service supported by advanced equipment and proven fabrication methods, and we can accommodate non-standard sizes and finishes when required. Our team is always ready with technical support and practical design guidance, and we maintain significant stock on-site to keep lead times short and projects moving.

  • Production Oversight

Our products are produced exclusively through accredited manufacturing partners that operate under ISO 9001 quality systems. This gives us direct control over specifications, consistency, and traceability.

  • Verified Testing and Compliance

Our products are independently tested and verified to recognised standards, supported by third-party laboratories and CPEng engineering where required, ensuring dependable performance.

  • Environmental Responsibility

We are guided by ISO 14001:2015 environmental management principles to reduce waste, improve efficiencies, and minimise our operational impact.

Overview
Our Pultruded Grating range is manufactured using continuous fibreglass rovings combined with thermosetting resin systems to create high-strength structural load bars with excellent spanning performance.
Unlike moulded grating, which provides bi-directional strength, pultruded grating is designed with primary load bars running in a single direction. This allows significantly improved span capability and reduced deflection under load, making it well-suited to longer walkways, elevated platforms, and heavy-duty industrial access systems.

Typical Applications: Walkways • Elevated Platforms • Service Platforms • Trench Covers • Conveyor Access • Industrial Access Flooring • Marine Infrastructure • Water Treatment Facilities

Manufacturing & Materials

All pultruded panels are manufactured using a continuous pultrusion process, producing highly consistent structural profiles with excellent fibre alignment and load-bearing efficiency.

Reinforcement: Continuous E-glass rovings are mechanically pulled through controlled resin baths and heated dies, creating high glass-to-resin ratios and exceptional unidirectional strength.

Resin Systems:
Isophthalic Polyester (ISO) – The dependable and cost-effective standard for New Zealand industrial applications. Provides strong structural performance, UV stability, and general corrosion resistance.

Vinyl Ester (VE) – Premium resin system designed for aggressive environments. Offers superior resistance to chemicals, solvents, moisture ingress and elevated temperatures, making it ideal for marine, wastewater, and heavy industrial applications.

See our “Resin Comparison – ISO vs VE” technical document for a detailed cross-comparison of resins.

Pigments are VOC-free (volatile organic compounds). UV inhibitors and fire retardants are incorporated throughout the resin system to support long-term colour stability, weathering performance and code-compliant fire characteristics.
Load Bar Options

We offer multiple pultruded load bar profiles to suit different applications and load requirements.

I-Bar Pultruded Grating

Designed for excellent drainage and airflow while maintaining strong spanning capability. Commonly used in industrial walkways and elevated platforms.

T-Bar Pultruded Grating

Provides a broader walking surface and improved comfort underfoot while retaining excellent load performance. Often selected where pedestrian traffic is frequent.

Heavy Duty Options
Heavy-duty pultruded systems are available for increased span requirements and higher point loading applications.
Surfaces & Finishes
Grit Surface
Quartz grit is bonded to the top surface for enhanced slip resistance in wet, exposed, or industrial environments.
Testing & Performance

Pultruded FRP grating provides a high strength-to-weight ratio while remaining corrosion-resistant and electrically non-conductive. Compared with traditional steel systems, it offers reduced maintenance requirements and simplified installation in aggressive environments.

Typical benefits include:
  • Long span capability
  • Corrosion resistance
  • Lightweight handling
  • Slip-resistant surfaces
  • UV-stabilised resin systems
  • Electrically non-conductive
  • Low maintenance requirements
  • No galvanising or painting required
Installation & Fabrication
Our workshop can provide:
  • Cut-to-size panels
  • Custom fabrication
  • Stair tread manufacture
  • Fixing clip supply
  • Site-specific layout assistance
316 stainless steel fixing clips and installation hardware are available for multiple support configurations.
